Gedhia Mamo

ASPIRING: Woman Rep’
Marsabit County
COUNTY: Marsabit

Gedhia Mamo hails from Marsabit County and is currently seeking the Woman Representative position. She holds a Master’s of Science in Governance, Peace and Conflict Management (Africa Nazarene University) and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Disaster Management and International Diplomacy (Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology-Kenya).

Gedhia has previously worked in several organizations among them Marsabit County Government, USAID/UKAID AHADI Devolution Program, and Grassroots Organizations Operating in Sisterhood (GROOTS) to develop a comprehensive curriculum on public participation and citizens’ engagement in effective service delivery funded by EU. More so, she has vast outstanding experience in the field of diplomacy, good governance, peacebuilding, policy analysis, conflict management, gender advocacy, culture, public participation.

My political agenda

  1. Peace and cohesion

To be the custodian of peace and cohesion which is the only way to achieve any form of development as we allow government and private partners to invest in our County

  1. Health

To have functional dispensaries closer to the people in their town centers to aid community members access health care easily which in turn reduces medical emergencies significantly.

  1. Water

Work on providing piped water in all towns to start with and build water reservoirs throughout the villages with a vision to provide piped water to each homestead eventually

  1. Education

Partner with other National bodies and private development partners to ensure there is access to functional schools for all school-going children in the county.

  1. Women, Youth, and PWD empowerment

Empower people living with disability (PLWD) and also educate the communities to accept them and integrate them into everyday living, create jobs, and empower the youth, not forgetting those who have fallen to alcoholism and drug addiction by establishing rehabilitation centers, Provide Soft and affordable loans and social security funds to women, youths and PLWD, and Realization and implementation of the 30% jobs and tender provision.

  1. Electricity

Partner with Energy, Petroleum Regulatory Authority, to issue micro-sized to medium-sized solar farms and wind farms to provide localized power to town centers.
